£70 - £90 per day
Tower Hamlets, London
Temporary | Part Time
Based in Tower Hamlets, this SEMH Teaching Assistant role is due to start in September and will involve working with an OUTSTANDING specialist provision for primary aged boys with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Some students will have an additional diagnosis of ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and/or dyspraxia.
The primary focus of this SEMH boys' school is to support pupils to reintegrate into mainstream schooling. The school day starts at 8.50am and ends at 3.10pm and the SEMH Teaching Assistant hours will be based around these times. Students usually spend 90% of their time on site and the remaining time at their mainstream school with a view to building on that time if suitable.
Pupils attend the school because their behavioural difficulties prevent them properly accessing the curriculum in a mainstream environment. SEMH Teaching Assistants work alongside teaching staff to provide additional resources, 1:1 support and facilitate their learning more effectively by providing individualised support. The school works hard to offer quality education and training, providing an enriched, experiential and well-differentiated curriculum in order to meet the needs of every child. Every pupil's individual needs and abilities are taken into account and the SEMH Teaching Assistant role is vital to ensuring each pupil can achieve their personal outcomes successfully.
There are four classes, which cater for years 1 to year 6 offering education and training experiences in each curriculum area. SEMH Teaching Assistants will support pupils to identify and develop their personality, talents, abilities and aspirations, as well as meeting their special educational needs.
The school upholds a positive culture due to their strong values set which is based on respect, commitment, a culture of shared responsibility, the belief in every child's capacity to learn and improve, honesty, trust, and achievement.
