Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a passionate and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with students who require additional support due to social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting teachers in delivering tailored interventions, providing one-on-one support, and creating a nurturing environment where all students feel valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their academic and personal goals.

Implement behaviour management strategies to support students in managing their emotions and developing positive coping mechanisms.

Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to facilitate their social and emotional development.

Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adapting support strategies as necessary.

Create a safe and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to succeed and thrive.

Qualifications and Skills:

Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable but not essential.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Empathy, patience, and resilience when working with students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and respond to challenging situations calmly and proactively.

Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.
