Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Teaching Personnel is thrilled to present a fantastic opportunity for a committed individual to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Wilmslow as an SEMH Teaching Assistant.

Role Overview: As a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the school's SENCO and other staff members to identify the specific needs of students with SEMH requirements.
  • Providing one-on-one support to students, helping them to manage their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build positive relationships.
  • Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) for students with SEMH needs, ensuring that their individual needs are met.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Offering guidance and encouragement to students, promoting self-esteem, resilience, and independence.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and support them effectively.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach when working with students facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
