Community Mentor- Tees valley New

Location: Community-based (daily travel required)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £30,000–£40,000

We are looking for a passionate and committed Community Mentor to support young people in overcoming barriers to education and achieving positive outcomes. You'll build trusted relationships with learners, provide personalised mentoring, promote attendance and wellbeing, and work closely with families, schools and external agencies to help every learner thrive.

• Deliver one-to-one mentoring tailored to individual learner needs.

• Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and personal development.

• Monitor attendance and support learners to re-engage with education.

• Complete welfare checks and home visits where required.

• Maintain learner records, risk assessments and progress plans.

• Safeguard young people, recording and reporting concerns in line with statutory guidance.

• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, local authorities and partner agencies.

• Support learners with transition planning, careers, further education and employment pathways.

• Maintain accurate records using digital systems and contribute to quality assurance and compliance.

You'll have:

• GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, youth work, SEND, SEMH or alternative provision.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

• The ability to work independently in community settings while contributing to a wider team.

• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel daily.

• Ongoing training and professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
