About the Role
Are you a passionate and resilient Behaviour Mentor looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school, where you'll play a key role in supporting students with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students, acting as a consistent and supportive role model.
- Support students to develop positive behaviour, emotional regulation, confidence, and social skills.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, SENCOs, and senior leaders to identify and address behavioural concerns.
- Implement individual behaviour support strategies and contribute to behaviour and pastoral plans where appropriate.
- Help students to understand the impact of their behaviour and encourage them to make positive choices.
- Support students who may be at risk of disengagement, exclusion, or persistent absence, helping them to remain engaged with education.
- Monitor students' behaviour, progress, and wellbeing, maintaining accurate records and reporting concerns appropriately.
- Assist with interventions designed to improve attendance, engagement, motivation, and relationships within the school environment.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A calm, patient, consistent, and resilient approach when supporting challenging behaviour.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and establish appropriate professional boundaries.
- A commitment to promoting positive behaviour, inclusion, and student wellbeing.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and school team.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
