A secondary school in Haslingden are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their school on a full-time, long-term basis. This post is initially until July 2023 with the potential to develop into a permanent post.

The purpose of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher with all elements of the day to day running of the class and to teach whole classes, groups and individual lessons in consultation with the class teacher on a regular basis. Your role will be to assist in providing high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities. You’ll be expected to know and understand the curriculum, and be able to prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes.

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • GCSE pass above C/4 for English, Maths and Science
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD and ASD
  • Understanding the safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing challenging behaviours

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
