About the Role

Are you a passionate and dedicated English Teacher looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school, where you'll inspire students to develop their reading, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills while fostering a lifelong love of English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and inclusive English lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Teach English Language and Literature across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate.
  • Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages confidence, curiosity, and academic achievement.
  • Assess, monitor, and record students' progress, using assessment data to inform planning and provide targeted support where required.
  • Prepare students for GCSE and, where applicable, A-Level examinations, ensuring they are supported to achieve their full potential.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, EAL, and higher-attaining students.
  • Promote positive behaviour and high expectations in line with the school's behaviour policy.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support students' academic progress and wellbeing.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable; however, candidates with relevant English teaching experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A passion for inspiring students and helping them develop confidence in reading, writing, and communication.
  • A commitment to supporting students' academic, personal, and social development.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
