Do you have experience working within a secondary school setting in a supporting role?
Are you able to converse in Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, or another language perhaps, and keen to utilise this skill to support students who don’t speak English as their first language?
A secondary school in the Manchester area are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their support staff team who can work with students who have English as an additional language (EAL).
The successful Teaching Assistant would be working within the classroom and with students in small groups, supporting them with their English and enabling them to access the curriculum and work being set. There will also be an element of relationship building and support required given that some of these students have only been in the country for a short period of time. The school are looking for an experienced TA or an individual who is experienced at supporting young people (essential).

The school is situated in the Manchester area and as a result of the local catchment area has a high proportion of students with English as an Additional Language (EAL). The school is particularly focussed on innovative teaching and ensuring students maintain the positive attitude to learning that the school team have worked on achieving. They are therefore looking for a TA who is able to keep students on task and engage with them and their schoolwork assisting in subjects as required. The successful TA would also benefit from having had experience of working with students from all backgrounds and those with EAL, from a Muslim, Bangladeshi and Islamic Faith background.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
