We are seeking an experienced, organised and proactive Primary School Business Manager to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational management of our thriving school.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional who can combine strong financial acumen with exceptional organisational and people management skills to help ensure our school continues to provide the very best learning environment for our pupils.

Location: Burnley
Salary: Dependent on grade and pay-scale

Contract Type: Full-Time 8am – 4pm  
Start Date: 2nd November 2026

As Primary School Business Manager, you will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors to lead and manage the school's business operations, ensuring resources are used effectively to support educational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the school's financial management, budgeting and financial planning.
  • Managing HR processes, recruitment, contracts and payroll administration.
  • Overseeing premises, facilities, health and safety, and site management.
  • Managing contracts, procurement and supplier relationships to achieve best value.
  • Supporting strategic school improvement planning and resource allocation.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and safeguarding requirements.
  • Leading and developing administrative and support staff teams.
  • Producing reports and financial information for senior leaders and governors.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in business, financial or operational management, ideally within an education setting.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
  • Experience of managing people and leading teams.
  • Knowledge of HR processes, health and safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to supporting the school's vision, values and ambitions.

A recognised School Business Management qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
