8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday | September start

A warm and inclusive Welsh Medium primary school in Cardiff is looking for a Reception Class Teaching Assistant to join their Foundation Phase team. The school has a strong sense of community, a supportive senior leadership team, and a genuine commitment to play-based learning in line with the Curriculum for Wales.

The role
You'll work alongside the Reception class teacher to support a busy, happy classroom of 4 and 5 year olds. Day to day, that means:

  • Supporting children in small groups and 1:1, both indoors and in the outdoor learning area
  • Helping deliver phonics, early numeracy and literacy interventions
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs (ALN), including personal care where required
  • Preparing resources and helping maintain a stimulating, well-organised learning environment
  • Encouraging independence, positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Supervising at break and lunchtime as part of the wider school team
We're looking for someone who
  • Has experience working with Foundation Phase / Early Years children (school, nursery or childcare setting)
  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Childcare qualification (or is working towards one)
  • Is registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willing to register
  • Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is happy to apply for one
  • Is patient, proactive and genuinely enjoys working with young children
  • Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential
What's on offer
  • £18,135 – £20,000 per annum, term time only
  • Consistent full-time hours in a single school — no daily supply juggling
  • Supportive mentoring from an experienced Foundation Phase team
  • Access to school-based CPD and safeguarding training
  • Long-term role with potential to become permanent for the right candidate
