Are you passionate about helping children learn, develop confidence and reach their potential?
We are recruiting Primary Education Support Assistants to work in primary schools across Swansea and the surrounding areas. This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's education while gaining valuable experience within a supportive school environment.
The Role
You'll work alongside teachers and the wider school team to support children with their learning, development and wellbeing.
The role combines 1:1 pupil support, small-group activities and general classroom duties, depending on the needs of the school and individual pupils.
Your responsibilities may include:
The balance of 1:1 and classroom support will vary between placements.
Additional Learning Needs
You may support pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including:
Every child is different, so you'll need to understand their individual strengths and needs and adapt your approach accordingly.
Behaviour Support
Some pupils may need additional support with anxiety, frustration, emotional regulation, impulsivity, sensory overload or difficult transitions.
You'll be expected to remain calm and consistent, build positive relationships and follow the school's agreed behaviour strategies.
Understanding what may be behind a child's behaviour is an important part of providing effective support.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is fundamental to working with children.
You will be expected to promote children's welfare, maintain professional boundaries, follow safeguarding and child protection procedures, recognise concerns and report them through the appropriate channels.
Training and Development
We provide free CPD and training to help you develop your knowledge and confidence, including:
You'll have the opportunity to develop practical experience that can support future progression within education and children's services.
