Required in a Pupil Referral Unit Whitchurch, Cardiff.

£11.85 per hour

We are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) who are looking for a Young Person’s Mentor to work with pupils with a range of additional needs from KS3 to KS4. The learners no longer attend mainstream education for a variety of reasons including SEMH and Behavioural Needs and require a Young Person’s Mentor that is able to reengage them in school and build effective relationships with the learners.

As a Young Person’s Mentor you will be working with learners in class who are completing a tailored curriculum that includes literacy and numeracy qualifications. The learners are working to KS3-4 level therefore the ability to understand the secondary school curriculum is essential. You will follow the learners through a variety of lessons supporting them throughout the school day.

Requirements:

Must be patient and have an understanding of adolescent mental health and a non-judgement approach.

Able to work well in a team environment and confident with building relationships

Must be confident managing behaviour and unfazed by challenging behaviour.

Ability to commit to a full-time role consistent role for continuity.

Ideal Candidate:

We have found previously, people with a sports background who are interested in engaging the learners through sport have done well however this is not essential.

Contract Highlights

Monday – Friday full-time role

No weekend work

Weekly pay on PAYE

Contracts are available for those performing well!

11.85 per hour – due to increase 1st April 2024
