Position: SENDCO

Location: NN3, Northampton

Are you passionate about inclusive education and supporting the diverse needs of every student? Do you have extensive experience working along SEN children, supporting with a variety of different needs?

We’re currently looking for a Special Educational Needs Coordinator to work in one of our lovely schools based centrally to Northampton with a ‘Good’ Ofsted report. The school are actively recruiting for a SENDCO to join their team as of September 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the provision for students with SEND, ensuring their individual needs are met.  Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create personalized support plans.
  • Monitoring the progress of students with SEND and implementing interventions where necessary.
  • Providing guidance and support to teaching staff on best practices for inclusive teaching and learning.
  • Building positive relationships with students, parents and other teachers/support staff within the department
  • Keeping abreast of current legislation and best practices in SEND education.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to SEND provision

Requirements

  • Qualified teacher status with additional qualifications or experience in SEND (National Award for SEN Coordination desirable).
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with SEND.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
  • Creativity and adaptability in devising strategies to support the individual needs of students.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying informed about current trends and research in SEND education.
