Job Opportunity: Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a recent Maths graduate eager to inspire and support students in their mathematical journey? Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted good secondary school in Whalley Range. This full-time role begins in September and runs until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent position based on performance.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing students' understanding and enjoyment of mathematics. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Collaborating with Maths teachers to deliver engaging and effective lessons, providing individual and small group support to help students grasp complex concepts.

  2. Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of lesson materials and resources, ensuring that students have access to the tools they need to succeed.

  3. Student Mentoring: Offering academic and pastoral support, helping students build confidence and develop a positive attitude towards mathematics.

  4. Assessment Assistance: Supporting teachers in assessing student work, providing constructive feedback, and tracking progress to inform future teaching strategies.

  5. Intervention Sessions: Leading targeted intervention sessions for students who need extra help, focusing on areas where they struggle the most.

  6. Homework Assistance: Helping students with their homework and ensuring they understand the material, encouraging independent study skills.

  7. Extra-Curricular Activities: Participating in and supporting extra-curricular maths-related activities, such as maths clubs or competitions, to foster a deeper interest in the subject.

  8. Collaboration: Working closely with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement effective support strategies, ensuring a cohesive approach to student learning and development.

Requirements:

  • A recent degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for education and a desire to support young people in their academic and personal development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic school environment.
  • Previous experience working with young people, either in a formal or informal setting, is desirable but not essential.
