Teaching Personnel are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Learning Support Practitioner, working across a variety of schools in Teesside. This role is ideal for someone passionate about providing 1:1 support to young people with additional needs and helping them to engage positively with their education.


  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils, helping them to access learning and reach their full potential.
  • Support the creation of a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to promote engagement and positive behaviour in lessons.
  • Assist in implementing individual education and support plans, ensuring consistency in approach.
  • Support students in developing confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and resilience.
  • Adapt learning resources and approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Act as a calm, supportive, and approachable presence throughout the school day.
  • Contribute to enrichment activities and support wider school initiatives that promote student progress and wellbeing.

  • Experience supporting children or young people in an educational, care, or community setting.
  • Understanding of SEND, behaviour support, and inclusive learning practices.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and an awareness of the SEND Code of Practice.

  • Experience working in a 1:1 or small group support role.
  • Knowledge of strategies such as Zones of Regulation or similar approaches.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Patient, nurturing, and adaptable with a child-centred approach.
  • Able to use creative strategies to support learning and engagement.
  • Confident working as part of a team while also independently supporting individuals.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).
