English Teacher required at Secondary School in South Manchester

When: 15th April 2024 until the end of the school year (full-time)

Where: Wythenshawe (close to tram link)

A Secondary School based in Wythenshawe in South Manchester are looking for a full-time English Teacher on a temporary basis until the end of the school year with the possibility of becoming permanent upon completion of the temporary role. The school is a supportive 11-16 school that is easily reached via public transport (tram) and is close to a major ring road meaning anyone driving would find the commute easy. The SLT department are very involved and make sure that each member of staff is fully supported. The cohort of staff are very welcoming and the English department in particular place a big emphasis on creating a tight bond and creating lots of opportunities for cross curricular teaching (and liaising with other departments regularly).

The role will involve planning some schemes of work to both KS3 and KS4 with some of the schemes already created but the school encourage you to adapt them to suit your own teaching style. Other responsibilities will include marking, performing both formative and summative assessments as well as liaising with department heads and parents when necessary. You may also be required to lead a form class and do lunch/break duties.

You will be expected to deliver challenging and engaging lessons and will need to be an enthusiastic and confident individual who has strong behaviour management skills to uphold the high standards of the school.

  • Pay: £153 - £238 per day depending on experience
  • You must have QTS in English
  • You will need to be free 5 days a week from 08:00am – 3:00pm
  • Must live in, or be able to travel to, Wythenshawe (South Manchester)
