Behaviour Support Mentor

A Primary Pupil Referral Unit School based in Leyland is looking for full-time behaviour support teaching assistants to make a difference to their school. Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health additional needs, Reception to Year 6 who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school, you will be required to follow an EHC plan to support their learning and development to ensure that the pupils excel to their full potetnial and recieve the highest quality education. 

To be successful, experience supporting children/ young adults with additional needs is essential. Ideally this would be in an educational setting however the school will accept individuals who have experience in support work, care work etc. All we ask if you have a passion for education, supporting pupils and are confident. 

Key Duties:

  • Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Provide meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress.
  • Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting pupils’ progress according to the school’s policies in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
  • Promote pupils cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and physical development. 

Key Information:

  • Full-time role, Monday to Friday (8:30-3:30pm) start date ASAP or 1st September 2024.
  • Term-time only role.
  • PAYE contract.
  • Primary SEMH Provision.
  • Leyland based, (PR25).
  • Competitive hourly rate of pay of £12.90+ per hour depending on experience and additional duties.
