Supply Desk is working in partnership with a warm, welcoming, and supportive primary school in Hazlemere (HP15) to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Year 1 Teacher for a September start.
This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about early learning, confident supporting the transition from EYFS into Key Stage 1, and dedicated to helping pupils develop strong academic and personal foundations in a nurturing classroom environment.
As a Year 1 Teacher, you will deliver a structured yet engaging curriculum that supports pupils as they move into more formal learning, while still incorporating play-based, practical, and child-centred approaches.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the Year 1 National Curriculum
- Supporting pupils through the EYFS to KS1 transition
- Delivering high-quality phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy teaching
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
- Assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching to meet individual needs
- Differentiating learning to support a range of abilities
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
- Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching in Year 1 or Key Stage 1
(ECTs welcome, particularly with relevant placements) - Strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum, phonics, and early learning strategies
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic teaching approach
- Availability for a September start
- Ability to commute to Hazlemere, HP15
- Pay in line with MPS/UPS, dependent on experience
