Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in the BS13 area of Bristol, seeking a dedicated Youth Behaviour Mentor to support children and young people with a range of additional needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop positive coping strategies, and achieve their full potential. The school provides a nurturing and supportive environment for students who may experience social, emotional, behavioural, and communication difficulties.

As a Youth Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and other professionals to provide both educational and emotional support. You will play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, improve engagement, and develop positive relationships within the school environment.

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN/SEMH and additional behavioural needs
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and act as a strong role model
• Support students to regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively
• Deliver targeted interventions and mentoring sessions to promote engagement and wellbeing
• Encourage participation in learning, school routines, and wider activities
• Use proactive and trauma-informed approaches to de-escalate challenging situations
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals
• Monitor progress and contribute to individual support strategies

You do not need a formal teaching qualification for this role. We welcome applications from individuals with experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable adults, including those from backgrounds such as:
