Year 2 Teaching Assistant New

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping children succeed academically, socially and emotionally during this important stage of their primary education.

Working alongside the Year 2 class teacher, you will provide classroom support, deliver targeted interventions and help pupils develop the skills and confidence they need to flourish in a positive learning environment.

Location: Padiham
Position: Year 2 Teaching Assistant
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Contract: Full-time – 8.30am – 3.30pm
Start Date: Monday 2^nd November 2026 or ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and creative lessons across the Year 2 curriculum.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and accelerate progress.
• Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and learning activities.
• Support pupils with varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs.
• Help to promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
• Contribute to assessment activities and monitor pupil progress.
• Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
• Support with reading, writing, phonics and numeracy interventions where required.

You Will Need:

• Have previous experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within Key Stage 1.
• Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Have a good understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
• Be confident supporting literacy, phonics and numeracy development.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be patient, proactive and enthusiastic about supporting young learners.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
