A welcoming primary school in the DE21 area is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 2 Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate KS1 teacher to take responsibility for a Year 2 class and play a key role in supporting pupils during an important stage of their education.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and creative lessons in line with the KS1 curriculum, helping pupils build strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics while preparing them for the transition into Key Stage 2. The school is looking for a teacher who can establish positive routines, encourage independence and create a supportive learning environment where all children can thrive.


  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the KS1 curriculum
  • Monitor, assess and support pupil progress across all areas of learning
  • Deliver phonics and early reading interventions where required
  • Create a positive, inclusive and well-structured classroom environment
  • Differentiate lessons to support a range of learning abilities and needs
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues and wider school staff
  • Maintain effective behaviour management in line with school policies
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2
  • Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and phonics teaching
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners
  • Professional, calm and consistent approach to teaching
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
