As an Unqualified Teaching Assistant in a Bath secondary school, you will work closely with teaching staff to support learning, behaviour, and student engagement across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will provide targeted support to pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, helping them access learning and develop confidence in the classroom.
- Support students across KS3 and KS4 on a 1:1 and small‑group basis
- Assist teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and behaviour management
- Encourage and motivate students to remain focused and engaged in learning
- Provide support for pupils with additional needs, confidence issues, or emotional regulation
- Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils during transitions, interventions, and non‑classroom activities
- Build positive, consistent, and professional relationships with young people
- Experience working with children or young people aged 11-16
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build rapport with teenagers
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and learning support
- Strong awareness of behaviour management and willingness to follow school policies
- Reliable, proactive, and adaptable attitude
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Previous experience in secondary schools, youth work, mentoring, or support roles
- Interest in teaching, SEND, pastoral support, or behaviour mentoring
- Experience supporting challenging behaviour or disengaged learners
- Safeguarding, first aid, or related training
- Driver with access to a car (beneficial but not essential)
