The Role

The school is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team. The successful candidate will work closely with qualified teachers to support both the academic progress and personal development of pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support, including:
    • Assisting with the planning and delivery of lessons
    • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, particularly those with additional needs
    • Preparing learning resources, displays, and teaching materials
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote strong social interaction
  • Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime when required
  • Support pupils with reading, writing, numeracy, and other core skills
  • Undertake general administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and record-keeping
  • Assist in developing pupils’ social skills and reinforcing positive behaviour
  • Provide general welfare support, pastoral care, and basic first aid (training will be provided)

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • A genuine interest in working with children and young people
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships quickly
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE grade 4/C in English and Maths, or equivalent)
  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and engage in ongoing training
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working with children (either paid or voluntary), for example in a nursery, after-school club, or youth setting
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
