Help Every Learner Move Forward

TP Tutors is looking for committed and supportive tutors to deliver individual educational programmes to children and young people across Coventry and nearby areas.

This opportunity is suitable for experienced teachers, tutors and education professionals who want flexible work while making a positive contribution to pupils' academic progress, wellbeing and personal development.

You will work with learners who may need extra support with their studies, preparation for examinations, essential literacy and numeracy skills, or a structured pathway back into education. Sessions may take place in family homes, schools or alternative education settings.

Key Duties

  • Provide one-to-one tuition tailored to each learner's abilities, educational needs and agreed targets.
  • Create structured lessons that encourage participation and make challenging topics easier to understand.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and use suitable teaching methods to address them.
  • Track progress, review learning outcomes and adjust support accordingly.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage motivation, resilience and independent learning.
  • Work professionally with families, schools and other relevant professionals.
  • Complete progress documentation and follow safeguarding and child protection policies.

Subjects and Areas of Expertise

We welcome applications from tutors who can offer support in one or more of the following:

  • English, Mathematics and Science.
  • Primary education, reading, writing and numeracy.
  • Secondary school subjects and GCSE revision.
  • Functional Skills qualifications.
  • Humanities and Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Computing, Creative Arts and other National Curriculum subjects.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Home tuition and alternative provision.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Successful applicants should have:

  • At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
  • Knowledge of primary, secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills or SEND education.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, planning and behaviour management abilities.
  • Reliable transport or appropriate arrangements for travelling to assignments throughout Coventry and surrounding areas.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

QTS, PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification is an advantage, although it is not essential.

Desirable Experience

Experience supporting children and young people with additional learning needs is particularly welcome. This may include autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), EHCPs, emotional or behavioural difficulties, and interrupted education.

Experience delivering tuition in pupils' homes or working within alternative education settings would also be beneficial.

What TP Tutors Offers

  • Competitive weekly pay.
  • Flexible assignments across Coventry and neighbouring locations.
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated specialist consultant.
  • Weekly in-house payroll.
  • Free continuing professional development (CPD) and specialist training.
  • Access to a variety of local tutoring opportunities.
  • Temporary work with the potential to progress into permanent positions.
  • The opportunity to help learners improve their skills, confidence and future prospects.

Working Arrangements

Assignments are available in Coventry and surrounding areas. Candidates must be able to travel reliably to pupils' homes, schools and alternative education settings and be available Monday to Friday during school hours.
