You will work with learners who may need additional academic support, help preparing for exams, or tailored educational provision to meet their individual needs. Tuition may be delivered in pupils' homes, schools, or alternative learning environments during the school day.

This role is suited to teachers, tutors, and SEND professionals who are passionate about making education accessible and helping every learner achieve meaningful progress.

About the Role

You will plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to each pupil's learning level, strengths, interests, and targets. Your approach will help learners develop essential knowledge, improve academic performance, and build confidence in their abilities.

You may support pupils with:

  • Primary and secondary curriculum subjects
  • GCSE preparation and Functional Skills
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Learning objectives outlined in EHCPs
  • Alternative Provision and transition back into mainstream education
  • Core literacy, numeracy, and wider academic skills

Subjects We Cover

We welcome applications from tutors with experience in one or more of the following areas:

English, Mathematics, Science, Primary Education, GCSE subjects, Functional Skills, Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, Computing, Creative Arts, Literacy, and Numeracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons suited to individual learning needs.
  • Develop appropriate teaching materials and structured learning activities.
  • Track pupil progress, evaluate learning outcomes, and maintain clear records.
  • Adjust teaching methods to accommodate different abilities and learning preferences.
  • Establish supportive relationships that encourage participation and motivation.
  • Help learners strengthen their independence, confidence, and academic skills.
  • Liaise professionally with parents, carers, schools, and other relevant professionals.
  • Follow safeguarding requirements and promote a safe, positive learning environment.

Essential Requirements

  • At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience in the UK.
  • Experience working with primary, secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, or SEND learners.
  • Strong communication, lesson planning, assessment, and behaviour management skills.
  • Reliable transport or the ability to travel to assignments across Cambridge and nearby locations.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

A recognised teaching qualification, such as QTS or PGCE, is desirable but not essential.

Additional Experience We Value

Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), dyslexia, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), EHCPs, or Alternative Provision would be an advantage.

What TP Tutors Offers

  • Competitive weekly pay.
  • Flexible assignments based on your availability and expertise.
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant.
  • Opportunities for professional development, CPD, and specialist training.
  • Varied placements across home, school, and alternative education settings.
  • The chance to make a lasting difference to young people's learning and wellbeing.

Tutoring opportunities are available throughout Cambridge and the surrounding areas. Candidates should be available to travel to pupils' homes, schools, or alternative provision settings during school hours, Monday to Friday.

If you are passionate about education and committed to helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning, we would love to hear from you.
