This is an excellent opportunity for experienced tutors, qualified teachers and SEND practitioners seeking flexible work that makes a real difference. You will provide face-to-face learning support in pupils' homes, schools and alternative education settings, helping students overcome barriers and make progress at their own pace.

Assignments may involve helping pupils catch up academically, prepare for exams, re-engage with education or access learning suited to their individual circumstances.

Your Role

As a tutor, you will be responsible for creating a positive and structured learning experience that meets each pupil's needs. Your duties will include:

  • Delivering personalised lessons aligned with individual learning targets.
  • Preparing suitable teaching materials and adapting resources where necessary.
  • Tracking progress, identifying learning gaps and sharing feedback.
  • Using flexible teaching techniques to accommodate different abilities and learning preferences.
  • Building positive relationships and encouraging confidence, motivation and independence.
  • Liaising with parents, carers, schools and other professionals.
  • Maintaining accurate records and following safeguarding policies.

Subjects and Specialisms

We are interested in candidates with experience in one or more of these areas:

  • Primary education, English, Maths, literacy and numeracy.

  • Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages and Computing.
  • Creative Arts and other National Curriculum subjects.
  • SEND education, home tuition and alternative provision.

What You Need

  • At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience in the UK.
  • Knowledge of relevant school curricula, GCSE, Functional Skills or SEND provision.
  • Good communication, organisation, planning and classroom or behaviour management skills.
  • Reliable transport or appropriate travel arrangements for local assignments.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

QTS, PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification is an advantage but is not essential.

Additional Experience We Welcome

Experience supporting learners with autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), EHCPs, emotional or behavioural difficulties, or disrupted education is highly desirable. Previous work in alternative provision or home-based tuition will also be beneficial.
