Support Young People to Achieve Their Potential

TP Tutors is looking for caring, knowledgeable and dedicated tutors to provide individual educational support to children and young people across Daventry and neighbouring communities.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference by helping learners strengthen their subject knowledge, overcome educational barriers and develop the confidence to succeed. You may work with pupils who need additional help with schoolwork, support with GCSE preparation, assistance following periods away from education or specialist provision for SEND.

Tuition can take place in pupils' homes, schools or alternative educational settings. We welcome applications from experienced tutors, qualified teachers and education professionals with relevant specialist knowledge.

The Opportunity

As a tutor, you will deliver tailored one-to-one sessions that reflect each pupil's learning needs, abilities and personal targets. You will create a supportive environment where learners feel encouraged to participate, build independence and make progress at their own pace.

Assignments may cover primary and secondary education, GCSE preparation, Functional Skills, home tuition, alternative provision and SEND-specific learning support.

Subjects and Learning Areas

We are interested in tutors who can offer support in one or more of the following:

  • English, Maths and Science
  • Primary literacy, numeracy and the National Curriculum
  • GCSE subjects and Functional Skills
  • History, Geography and other Humanities
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Computing, Creative Arts and other school curriculum subjects

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured, engaging lessons based on individual learning objectives.
  • Prepare suitable resources and adapt teaching methods to meet different needs.
  • Monitor achievement, identify areas for improvement and record pupil progress.
  • Provide written feedback after tuition sessions.
  • Encourage positive learning behaviours, motivation and self-confidence.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, carers, schools and other relevant professionals.
  • Maintain accurate lesson records and comply with safeguarding requirements.

Skills and Experience Required

  • At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience in the UK.
  • Experience supporting primary, secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills or SEND learners.
  • Strong organisational, communication, planning and assessment skills.
  • The ability to adapt lessons to different learning styles and manage behaviour effectively.
  • Reliable transport and the ability to travel across Daventry and surrounding areas.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

A QTS, PGCE or other recognised teaching qualification is desirable, although not essential.

Specialist Experience

Experience working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), dyslexia, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), EHCPs or other SEND requirements would be an advantage. Experience in home tuition or alternative education settings is also welcome.

Why Work with TP Tutors?

  • Competitive weekly pay
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Support from a dedicated specialist consultant
  • Weekly in-house payroll
