If you're looking for work in education that's genuinely meaningful, SEND and SEMH roles can offer something very different to mainstream settings.

Schools across East Sussex are currently looking for educators and support staff who can bring consistency, patience and a calm presence into the classroom.

These roles involve supporting pupils who may need additional help with behaviour, emotional regulation or learning - and who often respond best to structure, routine and strong relationships.

We are recruiting across a range of SEND and SEMH settings for:

  • SEND and SEMH teaching roles
  • Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant positions
  • Classroom and intervention support
  • 1:1 pupil support
  • Behaviour and engagement-focused roles
  • Short-term, long-term and ongoing opportunities

Roles are available across both primary and secondary schools throughout East Sussex.

No two days are the same.

Some days will feel challenging. Others will feel like real progress has been made.

The common thread is this: pupils need consistent, reliable adults who show up in the right way.

Schools are looking for people who can:

  • Stay calm when situations escalate
  • Provide clear boundaries and structure
  • Build trust over time
  • Support pupils to re-engage with learning

These roles tend to suit individuals who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people
  • Are patient, resilient and emotionally aware
  • Communicate clearly and work well within a team
  • Are interested in SEND or SEMH education

Previous SEND experience is helpful, but not essential. The right attitude and approach are just as important.

  • Opportunities across East Sussex SEND & SEMH schools
  • Flexible work as well as longer-term placements
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
  • Access to CPD and training opportunities
  • The chance to build meaningful experience within specialist education
