About the Role
Are you an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a confident and caring Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing, helping them to build confidence and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils across a range of subjects and abilities.
- Work closely with class teachers and other members of staff to support pupils' individual learning needs.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities and classroom tasks.
- Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional, and communication development.
- Build positive, professional, and supportive relationships with pupils.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, resilience, and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Support pupils who may require additional help with their learning, behaviour, or emotional wellbeing.
- Use a range of strategies to engage pupils and encourage positive behaviour and participation.
- Assist pupils with developing their communication, social skills, and relationships with peers.
- Provide support during lessons, break times, lunchtimes, outdoor activities, and school trips where required.
- Help prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials.
- Monitor and record pupils' progress, engagement, behaviour, and development.
- Provide feedback to the class teacher regarding pupils' progress and any areas of concern.
- Support pupils who may require additional intervention or targeted learning activities.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment where all pupils feel valued and supported.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, carers, and other professionals where appropriate.
- Follow school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, behaviour, and confidentiality.
- Take part in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school and support the smooth running of the classroom.
Requirements
- Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within a school/educational setting.
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
- Be patient, caring, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be confident working independently as well as part of a wider school team.
