Teaching Assistant – Durham Secondary Schools

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Teaching Assistants for secondary schools across Durham, with positions available immediately. These are long-term placements in inclusive, well-supported school environments where support staff are valued and the work you do has a visible, lasting impact on the students you work with.

Working across KS3 and KS4, you'll be supporting students with a range of needs — building consistent relationships, delivering targeted interventions, and helping young people access learning in a way that works for them.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Delivering targeted interventions and assisting with classroom management
  • Working with students with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties
  • Helping students develop independence and confidence in their learning
  • Liaising with the SENCO and wider support team as required

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting
  • A solid understanding of SEND and how to support diverse learners
  • Patient, reliable, and confident building relationships with students
  • Level 3 qualification desirable but not essential with relevant experience
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
