We are currently recruiting SEN and SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in a variety of specialist schools and alternative provisions across the Reading area, starting in October 2026.

These rewarding roles involve supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to access education, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

We are keen to hear from candidates with previous experience in:

  • Education settings
  • Care or support work
  • Residential childcare
  • Youth work
  • Mental health services
  • SEN or SEMH environments

Previous experience as a Support Worker, Care Assistant, Youth Worker, Mental Health Support Worker, or Behaviour Mentor is highly desirable.

You will need to be patient, resilient, empathetic, and committed to supporting young people who may present with challenging behaviours or additional needs.

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one or small group basis
  • Assisting with learning and classroom activities
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Helping students develop social and life skills
  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams
  • Creating a safe and engaging learning environment

  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults
  • Background in education, care, support work, or mental health preferred
