Supporting a pupil with ADHD & SEMH needs

Teaching Personnel are working with a primary school in Cowbridge that requires a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This isn't a role where you'll simply be sitting alongside the pupil during lessons. The successful candidate will become an important part of the pupil's support network, helping them develop strategies to manage their behaviour, emotions and engagement with learning.

  • Helping the pupil remain focused during lessons
  • Supporting emotional regulation
  • Implementing agreed behaviour strategies
  • Encouraging positive relationships with peers
  • Helping the pupil understand and follow classroom expectations
  • Breaking learning into manageable tasks
  • Providing reassurance during difficult moments
  • Encouraging independence and self-management
  • Feeding back to the class teacher and ALNCo
  • Previous 1:1 Teaching Assistant experience
  • Behaviour support
  • SEMH provision
  • ADHD or autism support
  • Youth work

  • Childcare
