Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Humberston, Grimsby, who are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and experienced Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who enjoys helping children build confidence, develop their skills and reach their full potential. You will work alongside experienced teachers and school staff, providing valuable support across the classroom and helping create a positive and engaging learning environment.
The school is based in a well-established community and is conveniently located for candidates travelling from Grimsby, Cleethorpes, New Waltham, Waltham and surrounding areas.
The Role
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging classroom activities.
- Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
- Helping pupils develop their literacy, numeracy and wider classroom skills.
- Supporting children who may require additional assistance with their learning.
- Encouraging pupils to become confident and independent learners.
- Providing positive encouragement and helping to promote good behaviour.
- Supporting classroom routines and maintaining a safe, organised learning environment.
- Preparing and organising classroom resources and activities.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, teachers and other school staff.
- Monitoring pupils' progress and providing appropriate feedback to the class teacher.
- Supporting pupils' social and emotional development.
- Contributing to an inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and supported.
The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is
patient, reliable, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about working with children.
You should have:
- A recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or educational setting.
- A good understanding of supporting children's learning and development.
- The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other education professionals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
- The confidence to support individuals and small groups.
- A positive attitude and willingness to adapt to the needs of the school and pupils.
Essential Requirements To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant equivalent.
- A minimum of 6 months' UK experience working with children.
- An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
- Ability to provide two years of employment and/or education references.
- At least one reference relating to working with children.
- Right to work in the UK.
