Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Do you have experience working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a desire to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

Supply Desk are currently seeking a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Gosport area from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team, providing assistance both within the classroom and during small-group intervention sessions.

Previous experience supporting children with Autism is highly advantageous, although applicants with relevant transferable skills and a genuine passion for SEN support are also encouraged to apply.

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with additional needs.
  • Supporting learning activities within the classroom environment.
  • Assisting with small-group interventions and targeted learning sessions.
  • Implementing strategies to support communication, engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback on pupil development.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Experience working with children with Autism is highly desirable.
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A commitment to supporting the educational and personal development of children.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
