The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum, build confidence and achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, SEND professionals and pastoral teams to provide tailored support for students who require additional assistance in their learning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within the classroom.
  • Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions.
  • Assisting teachers in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Encouraging student independence, confidence and resilience.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and SEN staff.
  • Supporting students socially, emotionally and academically.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Ensuring safeguarding and student wellbeing remain at the forefront of all interactions.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable but not essential).
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy and excellent communication skills.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Can build positive and professional relationships with young people.
  • Works effectively as part of a wider team.
  • Is proactive, adaptable and able to use their initiative.
  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
