Teaching Assistant Expiring soon

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs to achieve their full potential? We are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our specialist education team.

Our school provides exceptional education and care for children and young people aged 7–19 with Autism Spectrum Conditions and complex learning profiles. Many of our pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and require specialist support to access learning, develop social communication skills, build confidence and achieve greater independence.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to support pupils with a range of needs, including:

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Asperger's Syndrome
• ADHD and associated neurodevelopmental differences
• Speech, language and social communication difficulties
• Social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
• Sensory processing and sensory integration needs
• Moderate learning difficulties (MLD)
• Specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia and dyspraxia
• Heightened anxiety and emotionally based barriers to learning
• Selective mutism
• Challenging behaviours linked to communication and emotional regulation difficulties
• Complex learning and developmental profiles requiring highly individualised support

The Role

• Support pupils in lessons, during social times and throughout the school day.
• Deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning activities.
• Promote communication, independence and emotional wellbeing.
• Help pupils develop positive relationships and life skills.
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.
• Support with personal care, where required

What We're Looking For

• A genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEND.
• Patience, empathy and a positive approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
• At least 1 years experience working with young people, in school, youth work, care or other settings.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
