Contract: September 2026

With the Summer Term in full swing and the new academic year fast approaching, now is the perfect time to step into a rewarding role this September 2026, supporting young people in a secondary school setting.

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting Secondary Teaching Assistants, Student Behaviour Mentors and ALN Classroom Support staff to work with our partner secondary schools across Newport. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping young people succeed-academically, socially, and emotionally-and who are looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational environment!

The Roles: What You'll Be Doing

In these roles, you'll work closely with pupils who may need extra guidance, encouragement, or stability during the school day. This could include students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), social or emotional challenges, or those who benefit from additional structure and positive role models in the classroom.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils aged 11-16 both in and out of the classroom, including general classroom support, Learning Resource Base support, and extracurricular activities
  • Supporting pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation, and confidence building
  • Helping students stay engaged with their learning and maintain positive routines
  • Building positive, trusting relationships that help young people feel safe and supported
  • Supporting teaching staff with the delivery of lessons and classroom management

No two days are the same, and that's what makes this role so fulfilling!
