We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable General Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive school team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils’ learning and development across the classroom, working closely with teaching staff to help children reach their full potential.

Location: Nelson
Contract: Full-time 8.30am – 3.30pm
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour
Start Date: Monday 1st June 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher with the day-to-day delivery of lessons
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning
  • Assist with classroom preparation and resource organisation
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional development
  • Provide general classroom support, including during playtimes and transitions
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential)
  • A patient, caring, and positive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team and use initiative when required
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
