Hours: Full-time
Contract: Long-term placements

Teaching Personnel is recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of Alternative Provision, SEMH, and specialist SEN schools throughout Liverpool and the Wirral. These full-time, long-term roles involve supporting pupils who require additional help to access education due to social, emotional, and behavioural needs, or complex learning difficulties.

You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with a range of needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, and moderate to complex learning difficulties. Many settings offer smaller class sizes and a personalised approach to learning, meaning your role will be central in helping pupils engage with education, build confidence, and achieve positive academic and personal outcomes.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference and supporting vulnerable young people in a structured, inclusive environment.

  • Support pupils with SEMH, SEN, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, accessible lessons
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and individual learning plans
  • Support pupils in developing confidence, independence, and emotional regulation
  • Work positively with pupils who may display challenging behaviour
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to staff
  • Support with personal care where required
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour management, and health & safety
  • Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

You may already have experience working with children or young people in education, alternative provision, youth work, care, or support settings. The key qualities for this role are patience, resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.

These roles suit individuals who can build strong relationships, remain calm under pressure, and effectively support pupils in managing their behaviour and emotions.

  • Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or support roles)
  • Experience within a UK school or education settin
