Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our dynamic team at a Secondary SEMH School in South Manchester!

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behavior Support Assistant to provide additional support to our incredible students. As a Behavior Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student feels empowered to succeed and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-on-one and group support to secondary-aged students with SEMH needs, helping them to develop positive coping strategies and social-emotional skills.
  2. Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to implement behavior support plans tailored to individual student needs, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  3. Assist in de-escalating and managing challenging behaviors, using proven techniques and approaches to promote positive outcomes and safety for all students.
  4. Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to support their emotional well-being and academic progress.
  5. Implement and adapt strategies to support students in accessing the curriculum and achieving their full potential in line with their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs in a secondary school or similar setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • Resilience, patience, and a proactive approach to supporting students through challenging situations, with a focus on promoting resilience and self-regulation.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and a commitment to their well-being and success.
