The Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the educational and emotional development of students with SEMH needs. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
2. Assisting classroom teachers in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of students.
3. Supporting students in developing coping strategies, social skills, and emotional resilience.
4. Implementing behavior management strategies and interventions to support positive behavior and manage challenging situations.
5. Building positive relationships with students, families, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for students with SEMH needs.
6. Collaborating with the SENCO and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans for students.

Requirements:
To excel in this role, you will need:

• Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a PRU or similar setting.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
• A proactive and solution-focused mindset, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within the school community.
