The Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with SEN. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing tailored support to students with SEN, both in individual and group settings, to help them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  2. Assisting classroom teachers in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  3. Supporting students with SEN in developing independent living skills, social skills, and self-confidence.
  4. Collaborating with the SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  5. Monitoring and recording student progress, and providing feedback to the classroom teacher and SENCO.
  6. Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.

Requirements:
To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with young people with SEN, preferably in a secondary school or similar setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within the school community.
  • A relevant qualification in education or SEN support is desirable but not essential.
