At Teaching Personnel, we are working closely with primary schools in the Haywards Heath area that have asked us to recruit a 1:1/learning support assistant. The role will involve supporting the needs of a particular child with SEN needs such as traits of ADHD and autism, a short attention span, and a requirement for individualised short tasks, lots of praise, and enthusiasm. The position will begin asap 2024, and the schools have indicated that they may offer a permanent position to the right candidate after a period of review.

Job Duties:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEN needs, including traits of ADHD and autism
  • Create and implement individualised tasks and activities for the child
  • Ensure the child's safety and well-being at all times
  • Assist the child in staying focused and engaged in learning
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to support the child's learning goals
  • Provide regular feedback to the teacher and other relevant staff members

Experience:

  • Experience working with children with SEN requirements
  • Experience in implementing behaviour management strategies

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with SEN requirements and best practises
  • Ability to effectively manage behaviour and promote positive engagement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members

Working Conditions:

  • Full-Time position, working from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Work within a primary school setting
  • Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher and other school staff
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
