We are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join an alternative provision in Dorset. You will be working between 2 sites, one based close to Wareham and one based close to Dorchester. Because of this, it is beneficial you have access to a vehicle but this is not essential and car shares can be available from Dorchester, Poole and Bournemouth.

About the provision:

The service provides support for young people and children between the ages of 12-16, with complex social, emotional and mental health needs SEMH) and some special educational needs (SEN). This could include a child or young person who:

  • Needs support because they’re unable to be at school full time
  • Is experiencing declining mental health and/or self-harm
  • Requires a calm and safe place to complete their education while working towards returning to school or post-16 education or apprenticeships

You will be supporting young people with project work including outdoor activities and animal care.

The ideal candidates will:

  • Have lots of patience, be proactive and resilient
  • Be experienced working with young people or adults who have mental health difficulties or SEN
  • Have excellent numeracy and literacy skills (A-C Grade) GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
