At Teaching Personnel we are working closely with a primary school in the Haywards Heath area that has asked us to recruit a general class TA in Year 1 but there are a few children with SEND in the class (although the class is only 21 children) so as part of the TA role, they will support these children in the classroom, some SEN experience would be good but not necessary. 

The position is Part - time, term time only. 

Job role:

  • Reading or explaining tasks to the child, understanding, and supporting their needs and keeping them focused on their tasks.
  • Manage challenging behaviours.
  • Consistent and dependable - due to SEN needs this is essential
  • Support the teacher to maintain learning and help children access the curriculum.

Full time - competative rates of pay

What does it take to be a 1:1 Teaching Assistant?

  • Passion for education
  • Patience and understanding
  • No formal educational qualifications necessary - however experience of SEN needs is essential.
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate available on the Update service (Teaching Personnel can assist)
  • Access to a car is preferable due to location but not essential
