Teaching Personnel is recruiting Teaching Assistants to work on a day-to-day basis at a supportive special school in a rural part of Staffordshire.

About the School
The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, learning difficulties, communication needs and social, emotional and mental health needs. It has a caring, inclusive ethos with a strong focus on helping pupils build independence and confidence, and a practical approach to learning that prepares them for life beyond school. Staff work closely with families to support each pupil’s progress.

The Role

  • Supporting pupils individually and in small groups, in the classroom and beyond
  • Helping pupils develop independence, communication and social skills
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Working alongside teachers and the wider team to help pupils achieve their individual targets

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, whether in school, care, youth or community settings
  • Patience, resilience and a calm, consistent approach
  • A reliable, professional team player
  • Teaching Assistants from mainstream schools who want to move into SEN are welcome to apply

Location
The school is in a rural location, so a car is recommended. Local candidates are particularly encouraged to apply, but we welcome applications from further afield.

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Two years of professional references
