This College is a 52-week residential specialist college providing quality care and education for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 with a diagnosis of autism, or whose difficulties place them on the autistic continuum. Students often have complex needs, associated learning difficulties and behaviours of concern. The curriculum has been devised to prepare students for adulthood and to equip them with the skills and knowledge to achieve their personal best in adult life.

This is delivered in a variety of settings, including within students’ homes, vocational placements both internally and externally. As well as learning within in the classrooms, young people take part in various outdoor activities such as animal therapy and various activities based around nature throughout the college sites.

Purpose and Summary of the Job

  • To create and follow high quality and ambitious curriculum plans, from longer term curriculum overviews to individualised schemes of work
  • To create high quality session plans, demonstrating effective differentiation to meet diverse students needs 
  • Delivering education with therapeutic approaches whilst incorporating opportunities for students to experience the fun side of life 
  • To recognise, value and raise the achievement of students but ambitious goal setting and approaches 

We are looking for a Teacher who is passionate about education and committed to fostering independence and a passion for lifelong learning. Working as part of a committed team, we need someone who can cater for the diverse needs of students and therefore require someone who:

  • Has at least 1 years experience as a qualified teacher within an educational facility 
  • Has experience planning, delivering and assessing learning activities 
  • Knows how to effectively utilise support staff to meet students needs 
  • Has the ability to set SMART, personalised and ambitious goals for students with special needs 
  • Has the ability to adapt teaching practices based on students needs 
  • Has a high level of personal organisation and time management

The school is not easily accessed by public transport so it is essential you drive and have access to a vehicle.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
