Role Overview:

As a successful Future Teacher, you'll serve as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school in Weymouth. Your role will involve covering lessons during short-term teacher absences, ensuring students continue their learning journey with tasks set by the teacher. While no active teaching, marking, or planning is required, you'll supervise the class, delivering a high-quality learning experience and gaining invaluable insight into the teaching profession.

During Placement, You Will:

  • Maintain a journal documenting your day-to-day experiences
  • Observe lessons within your subject specialism and others to broaden your teaching knowledge
  • Learn effective differentiation, behaviour management, and non-subject activities such as registration and assemblies
  • Collaborate with staff to support pastoral systems for student development
  • Familiarize yourself with school policies and understand their development rationale
  • Learn the syllabus in your subject area and identify how your degree knowledge can be applied, presenting this to the school
  • Support students through coursework and examination preparation
