The Role

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary school in Skelmersdale to recruit a motivated and confident English Teacher to join the department from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to teach English in a supportive school environment, helping students develop strong reading, writing and communication skills while fostering a love for language and literature.

Key Responsibilities

-          Deliver engaging and well‑structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4

-          Plan differentiated lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities

-          Prepare students effectively for GCSE English Language and Literature

-          Assess progress regularly and provide clear, constructive feedback

-          Maintain a calm, positive and well‑managed classroom environment

-          Contribute to departmental planning and wider school life where appropriate

 

The Ideal Candidate

-          Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualification

-          Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to apply)

-          Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for English

-          Confident classroom practitioner with effective behaviour management skills

-          Reflective, proactive and committed to continuous professional development

-          Able to build positive relationships with students and colleagues alike
