The Role

As a Cover Supervisor / Supply Teacher, you will play an essential role in ensuring continuity of learning when teaching staff are absent.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school expectations.
  • Supporting students to remain engaged and productive throughout lessons.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encouraging students to achieve their potential and maintain high standards.
  • Providing feedback to teaching and pastoral staff regarding lesson outcomes.
  • Upholding safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.

Qualified teachers may also be given opportunities to deliver lessons within their specialist subject areas.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking individuals who:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or have previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or within a secondary school setting.
  • Have excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Are confident working with secondary-aged students.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability and resilience.
  • Can quickly build positive relationships with students and staff.
